The Blue Mosque (Called Sultanahmet Camii in Turkish) is a historic mosque in Istanbul. This mosque is called the Blue Mosque because of the interior design walls surrounded by blue tiles. The mosque was built between 1609 and 1616 during the reign of Ahmed I. Like many other mosques, it also includes the founder’s tomb, Islamic school, and hospice hospital. In addition to still being used as a mosque, the Sultan Ahmed Mosque has also become a popular tourist attraction in Istanbul.

In addition to being a tourist attraction, it is also an active mosque, so it is closed to non-believers for about half an hour during the five daily prayers.

The best way to see the great architecture of the Blue Mosque is to approach it from the arena. (West side of the mosque) Like non-Muslim tourists, they must walk in the same direction to enter the mosque.

1) Plan your visit to the Sultanahmet area of ​​Istanbul so that you'd better arrive in the morning.

2) Before entering the mosque, please take off your shoes and put them in the plastic bag provided at the entrance (free of charge). As part of Muslim tradition, everyone must do this when entering the mosque. Entry to the Blue Mosque is also free.

3) If you are a female, wear a headscarf when entering the Blue Mosque. Headscarves are provided for free at the entrance of the Blue Mosque. Place the cloth cover on top of your head and hang down equal amounts on both sides. Take one side, wrap it around your neck, throw it behind your back and cover your shoulders. Don't cover your face, cover your hair just to cover your hair.

4) When entering the mosque, keep quiet and do not use flash photography. Since this is a place of worship, please avoid staring or photographing people who are praying. Visit the mosque respectfully and quietly. At the exit of the mosque, you can put the used plastic bags in the designated garbage bag, and then return the hood to the duty officer.
